Curriculum intent

Physical Education aims to develop physically literate, resilient and confident young people who understand the importance of physical activity, health and wellbeing throughout life.

The curriculum promotes participation, excellence and lifelong engagement in physical activity. Students develop competence across a wide range of sports while learning the values of teamwork, leadership, perseverance and respect.

The department seeks to foster both personal achievement and enjoyment of sport while encouraging healthy lifestyles and positive wellbeing.

The student experience

Students participate in a broad range of physical activities that develop practical competence, tactical understanding and physical fitness.

Lessons encourage students to challenge themselves, work collaboratively and reflect on their performance. Students experience both individual and team activities and are encouraged to develop leadership skills through sport.

The curriculum helps students understand the physical, social and psychological benefits of an active lifestyle.
