Child Safeguarding at Southend High School for Boys

At Southend High School for Boys, nothing is more important than the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every child in our care.

As parents and carers, you place enormous trust in us each day. We take that responsibility seriously. Safeguarding is not simply a policy — it is a culture that runs through everything we do, every conversation we have, and every decision we make.

They ensure that every concern is listened to carefully, acted upon swiftly and handled with compassion and discretion.

If you are ever worried about a child’s safety or welfare — no matter how small the concern may seem — please contact one of our Safeguarding Leads. We would always rather hear from you early.

Everyday safety

A Safe and Secure Environment

Your child’s safety on site is paramount.

  • All staff are clearly identifiable by their official identity badge.
  • All visitors must sign in and wear a Visitor’s Badge at all times.
  • Staff are reminded regularly of the high professional standards and vigilance expected of them when working with young people.
  • We work hard to ensure that our school remains a place where students feel safe, respected and able to speak up.

Raising a concern

If You Have a Concern

We understand that raising a safeguarding concern can feel difficult. Please be assured that you will be treated with sensitivity, respect and confidentiality.

Online life

Online Safety Matters

The online world is a significant part of young people’s lives — offering opportunity, connection and learning, but also potential risk.

We treat Online E-Safety as a shared responsibility between school and home. We provide guidance and resources to help parents and carers:

Understand the platforms and apps young people use

Recognise warning signs of online harm

Support safe, respectful and responsible digital behaviour

Together, we can ensure that your child feels safe not only within our school gates, but wherever their learning and friendships take them.

If you are ever unsure, concerned or simply need advice — please reach out. Safeguarding works best when we work together.
